Which one is right for you?
The Pick Up Pen
The Pick Up Pen is ideal for placing AB diamonds and for nudging a drill thatβs landed in the wrong place. It comes with handy caps that keep the tips free from dirt, debris and stray diamonds. When a tip wears down, replacement wax tips fit our pick up pens, but they may not fit other brands.
Metal pen
The Metal Pen is a thin metal pen in your choice of colour. It can come with a set of tips: a single placer, a 3, 6 and 9 placer, a large straightener and an angled tip.
Thin resin pen
The Thin Resin Pen comes in lots of colours, from coffee to hot pink. Like the metal pen, it can come with a single placer, a 3, 6 and 9 placer, a large straightener and an angled tip.
3D printed pens
Our 3D printed pens are made by Forge Arcana 3D. They measure 15.5cm long with the metal tip in, and theyβre 2cm wide at the thickest point. Theyβre lightweight, so you can paint in comfort for longer. Choose from Pink, Purple, Navy, Teal Green, Silver and Rainbow. Each pen can come with an extra pack of plastic tips.

A single placer picks up one drill at a time. Multi-placers pick up a row of drills at once, which is lovely for big blocks of one colour.

Metal tips add stability and durability. They come with little O-rings for the best fit in your pen, and you can buy them individually (single to 10 placer, angled tip or straightener) or as a full set.

Your pen needs wax, putty, glue dots or glue strips to pick up the drills. Iβve put them side by side on my Wax, putty or glue dots page.

If youβre new, start with the pen that came in your kit and see how you get on. Lots of things are lovely once you know you enjoy the hobby, but they arenβt a must on day one. My Starting out guide explains which tools are worth having first.
